Kindergarten Kapers
Vol. 22

100th Day of School
Thanks to our wonderful moms who drove us and helped out on our Field Trip to Lutheran High School.  The “other Mrs. Lail” reports that the high-schoolers had as much fun as the kindergarteners!

National Lutheran Schools Week
This weekend is the kick-off for NLSW.  Whether or not you are a member at Zion, you are welcome to join us this week for worship. There will also be displays or student art in the Welcome Center as well as the Fellowship Hall (downstairs).  The Coffee Hour is hosted by Zion’s faculty, and exciting plans for our Campus Expansion will be on display.  See the Banner for more details.

New Classmate!
Beginning Monday, we will welcome Adianna to our class.  She visited this afternoon and fit right in.  Please join me in giving a Big Bobcat welcome to Adianna and her parents!

Special Dress Days
Monday – Pajama Day
Tuesday – Crazy Socks
Wednesday – Bright Colors
Thursday – Zion School Colors
Friday – Favorite Book Character
Please read the Banner for details!

Finally . . .
God’s blessings on your weekend as you rest, recreate, and worship.

                     Yours in Christ,

100th Day of Kindergarten

First we read with our partners.

Each time we finished a book, we put a sticker on the 100's chart.

Then we picked out the next book to read.

Mr. Kuhlmann read the 100th book to all of us.

Then we finished up with 100 jumping jacks!

This Week's News

Kindergarten Kapers
Vol. 21

Jesus TIme
This week as we studied the account of Jesus calling His disciples, we found out that He did not stop with only those twelve!  He calls us too, to FOLLOW Him and TELL others about Him! Please take a moment to hear your kindergartener tell the Good News about Jesus, using his/her four-color visual.

National Lutheran Schools Week
January 27th through February 2nd we will be celebrating with Lutheran Schools all over the country.  What are we celebrating?  The answer is GOD”S GOODNESS to the students, families, and staffs of our schools.  This year’s theme is “Baptized for this moment.”
In the past, NLSW has included a Scholastic Book Fair and Grandparents Day.  We will do both of those things in March, so stay tuned.

Donuts for Dads…
was a great success, with a huge number of Dads (and Grandpas, etc.) attending.  Thank you! And for those of you who were able to stay for chapel, another thanks! It was great to worship with you.

100th Day Field Trip
Friday will be the 100th day of school, and we will have fun celebrating.  Part of the fun is making a 100th Day snack to keep us sustained while the high- schoolers read to us.  Since we leave immediately after announcements that morning, we will be making our snack the day before.  Each of the kindergarten classes contributes five items so that we have ten altogether. The five we are collecting are
Mini marshmallows
Chocolate Chips
Cheez-Its
Teddy Grahams
Kix cereal
We will need enough pieces for each kindergartener (both classes) to have 10 pieces of each item.  Since we have 33 kindergarteners in all, we will need at least 330 mini-marshmallows, 330 chocolate chips, etc. These items are typically peanut-free, but it is possible there could be variations among brands, so please check the labels.
This is a short list, so you can simply email me if you would like to provide one of these items. Thank you!

Finally . . .
God’s blessings on your weekend as you rest, recreate, and worship.  See you on Tuesday!

              Yours in Christ,
              Mrs. Cheryl Lail

This week we moved from the account of Epiphany to that of the child Jesus’ visit to the Temple.  Next week we will learn of the start of His ministry as He calls the twelve disciples.

There are some notable items in your child’s folder this week, including a hard copy of the report card, information on our Field Trip on the 25th, January’s PAK, and more!

Donuts for Dads
This Wednesday morning I hope many of you Dads are able to join us for Donuts and fellowship in the church Basement.  We are also attending chapel with the first through eighth graders and hope you are able to join us for that as well.

Second Semester Worship Journals came home yesterday.  Please read the inside front cover with your child for a ‘refresher’ and for some new information this time around.

Kindergarten Kapers vol.19

Kindergarten Kapers                     Vol. 19

This Sunday is Epiphany – the celebration of the Wise Men’s trek to see the infant King.  May your heart be moved to worship that King as the Magi did.

Jesus TIme
Kindergarten had it’s own journey today as we went on a ‘Star Search’ to find the Baby Jesus.  (If you’re on the blog, see photos below.)

Class Service Project
Thank you for your generosity for little Drew.  As I helped load the meals for delivery on Dec. 21st, I was amazed at the abundance.
Little Drew had a day-long surgery yesterday to remove the now-benign tumor.  They were able to remove 90% of it, but it was intense and recovery will take some time.  Your continued prayers are appreciated.

Show and Tell
The children chose dates for their chance to show and tell one of their Christmas gifts.  A copy of the schedule is in each folder so that you are aware of the date your child chose.  Thank you for helping them remember.

New Quarter
We have begun third quarter, (although finalizing grades for report cards makes it feel like the end of second quarter.) Watch for grades next week.

Worship Journals
The worship journals are not quite complete, but in your child’s folder is a copy of the first page for this weekend.

Finally . . .
God’s blessings on your weekend as you rest, recreate, and worship.

              Yours in Christ,
              Mrs. Cheryl Lail
